Process

1. Supplier take-back: for all large deliveries the Department should contact the supplier in the first instance to take the polystyrene and other packaging back. The Procurement Office can provide contact details for different suppliers in order to request take-back of related packaging post-delivery.
2. Reuse: reuse internally where possible.
3. Recycling: we are working with a company who can recycle polystyrene. Stores locations across all Campuses have a supply of bags, and these are collected on a weekly basis. If you produce polystyrene, speak in the first instance to Stores to see if they can assist. If they are not able to, contact Waste and Furniture Management for advice. All polystyrene must be broken down as much as possible. For the larger, more rigid polystyrene boxes, bag these to allow ease of handling.
4. If expecting a large delivery containing large quantities of polystyrene contact Waste and Furniture Management to arrange an uplift.
