Contact details

In an emergency

You can call the Security Section in the event of an emergency on 0131 650 2257 or 2222 from an internal line. These lines are manned 24 hours a day, every day (including holidays).

Where you need the emergency services dial 999 and request the appropriate emergency service. After calling the emergency services please call the Security Section so we are aware of the incident and can provide assistance.

Out-of-hours student support

Students who experience a crisis outside normal working hours can contact the University for support on: 0131 650 2257.

A member of the Security team will take details of the situation and may be able to provide the support or answers that you need. Where this is not possible and the situation is urgent, you may be transferred to a duty member of the student services team at the University.

Examples of a student welfare crisis might include:

  • being a victim of serious crime
  • being hospitalised
  • loss of accommodation (e.g. due to fire or flood).

These may be reported by the student or by the student’s flatmates/friends/family.

This service is not designed or intended in any way to replace the role of the emergency services or other relevant agencies such as GPs or other local NHS provision.
