The Estates Department is responsible for the repair and upkeep of some of Edinburgh's most iconic historical buildings. The University of Edinburgh was founded in 1583 and currently occupies more than 550 academic, administrative and residential buildings throughout the city of Edinburgh across five campuses.The estate is an exciting mix of eras and architecture. Many of the buildings enjoy listed status and are integral to the unique qualities and characteristics of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site of Edinburgh. Within the Estates Department we have a dedicated resource who is responsible for oversight on all historical buildings.
