Whilst the building remained open for escape route access, works were carried out to improve the circulation space and toilet provision. Peter Hughes, Architectural Technologist led this project working alongside Adrian Cavaye, Architectural Technologist and Interior Designer who created a more accessible design for the previously cramped space.

Works included repainting to brighten the space as well as reconfiguring the signage and push buttons to make the entrance more user friendly for all staff and students. The foyer was extended to provide a clearer, less cluttered entrance area.

The project also involved refurbishing toilets including accessible and gender neutral facilities. This is part of the Estates Department’s commitment to improving accessibility and toilet facility provision across the estate.
