Changing Rooms Revamp

The Small Projects and Minor Works Team recently completed a refurbishment of the Level 3 Male and Female changing rooms in St Leonard's Land.

The refurbishment project involved a reconfiguration of the space to allow for a modern, clean feel and included:

  • Upgraded lighting and feature ceiling details
  • Porcelain tiled flooring and consolidation of floor levels to remove steps
  • Additional, separate and fully accessible changing rooms
  • Upgraded cosmetic finishes, modern colour scheme and corporate graphics
  • Refurbishment of existing lockers
  • Open changing, private changing and showering cubicles with independent drainage outlets
  • Upholstered seating and vanity dressing unit
  • Upgraded toilet and wash hand basin provision
  • Reconfiguring of existing partitions to increase changing area space.

The changing rooms have reopened and are available for students and staff from Moray House School of Education and Sport to use.

Adrian Cavaye, Interior Designer was the project lead and said: “Some of the changing rooms at St Leonards have not seen any significant improvements since their construction in the 1970s. There was no provision for accessible changing spaces or private cubicles and shower drainage for eight positions was served by a single floor outlet. The refurbished changing rooms have created a modern, accessible facility and been well received. A similar refurbishment is in the planning stage for Level 2 changing rooms in 2024.”
